Shamanic Consultations
Divination (from Latin divinare "to foresee, to be inspired by a god”), is the discovery of things hidden in the past, the present, or the future by the interpretations of signs, symbols, and omens. It is a means of gaining insight for self and others. The casting of objects - bones, shells, curios, and stones - is a divination system practiced by people throughout the world for centuries.
In Africa part of a Sangoma's training is learning to throw the bones. Essentially, bones are scattered onto a mat and then read. Meaning is deduced in by the position in which the bones fall as well as direct guidance from the Ancestors. My set includes bones received during initiation ceremonies in Swaziland as well as shells, objects, and curios that assist me in divining. Through this system the Ancestors speak to me regarding the client's issues and provide guidance for moving through obstacles.
While bone divination excels at looking and seeing, it can also provide you with a clearer view of the many options available to you. By looking at the events and situations that brought you to this juncture, and expanding your perspective, you gain new insights about how to move forward on your path.
The initial consultation includes a reading with the bones and takes approximately one hour. The reading can be done long distance but the experience of looking at the bones "talk" is unique and powerful. Appropriate healing will be diagnosed from this reading and follow-up sessions scheduled if necessary.

Sacred Ritual & Ceremony
Shamanic rituals such as house blessings, baby blessings, and purification ceremonies (limpias) are performed to restore spiritual balance. Gogo Gretchen also creates remedies using herbs and essential oils guided by her Ancestors, with follow-up rituals provided for home practice.
About Gogo Gretchen
Gogo Gretchen Crilly McKay is a Sangoma and Shamanic Practitioner who lives in coastal Southern California. She has been practicing shamanism for more than 25 years, studying with master shamans in the U.S. and Africa. In 2001 she completed her traditional training and initiation in Swaziland, Africa and graduated as Sangoma under the mentorship of Zulu shaman P.H. Mtshali. Currently Gogo Gretchen has a private shamanic practice where she sees clients and offers ongoing shamanic training for both beginning and advanced students.
Gogo Gretchen uses the African divination system of throwing the bones to diagnose the spiritual issues underlying dis-ease and family patterns; provides shamanic healing through energetic extraction, soul retrieval and healing with spiritual light; uses medicinal herbs and aromatherapy to facilitate energetic healing through ceremony and ritual; and teaches workshops for ancestral and personal healing.
